White County Board Building Committee met April 17.
Here are the minutes provided by the committee:
A building committee meeting of the White County Board begun and holden this 17th day of April , 2024 in the Courtroom of the White County Courthouse in the City of Carmi.
Chairman Pigg started the meeting with roll call. Webb, Neal, Weiss, Fulkerson, South and Pigg were all present, with Cannon, Marsh, and Allen counted as absent.
Chairman Pigg stated that the first item on the agenda was discussion and approval of building plans. Lacey with Architechniques was at the meeting to show the committee the changes that were discussed at the April 9, 2024. There was discussion on concerns on how this building will connect to the former Carmi Times Building. That will be discussed more in depth once all plans/layout of the building have been finalized. A question was asked if the building had to have a sprinkler system and if our insurance requires a sprinkler system and would it be a break on insurance with a system put in place. The committee then asked about the outside appearance of the building, and they wanted it to look as similar as possible. Lacey informed the committee that it would more than likely be a mixture of blocks and bricks. Judge Webb stated that he would like to see columns on the front of the building. The committee then discussed the unfinished side of the former Carmi Times Building. They asked Lacey to draw up the option of moving the Probation, State’s Attorney Office, and possibly Public Defenders Office in the former Carmi Times Building.
Lacey will call when the new plans are finished and the committee will schedule a meeting.
Chairman Pigg called for a motion to adjourn. Judge Webb made the motion, seconded by South. Motion carried on a roll call vote.
