Norris City Omaha Enfield Community Unit School District 3 Board of Education met April 17.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

The regular meeting of the Board of Education of Norris City-Omaha-Enfield Community Unit School District No. 3 was held on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at the District Office. The meeting was called to order by Joe Lane at 7:02 p.m.

Roll Call: Present- Rhonda Forston, Joe Lane, Heath Rush, Mike Hite. Absent- Matt McArthy, Frank Graves, Kyle Hoskins.

Others in Attendance- Matt Vollman, Superintendent; David Reavis, Principal; Carla Carter, Principal; Brad Wehlermann, Principal; Jessica Jackson, Treasurer; Skip Land.

Motion to approve the Minutes for March 20, 2024 Regular Board Meeting and Executive Session by Joe Lane. Second Heath Rush. Unanimous vote. Motion Carried.

Motion to approve the Bills by Joe Lane. Second by Heath Rush. Roll Call Vote- Rhonda Forston, yes; Heath Rush, yes; Joe Lane, yes; Mike Hite, yes. Motion Carried.

Matt McArthy entered the meeting at 7:06 pm.

Frank Graves entered the meeting at 7:07 pm.

Superintendent Report/Matt Vollman-

-New lockers in the jr high wing are installed.

-W.P. Meat LLC is providing fresh meat products to the school cafeteria as part of the Farm to Table Grant. It has been a very positive experience to provide locally farmed, processed and distributed foods on the school menu.

-Senior trip will be May 7-10.

Principal Reports:

High School/Mr. Wehlermann-

-Attendance was 89.3%.

-Spring Fling provided games and pork burgers to the students to kick off Spring Break.

-During the after graduation, the kids will eat pizza, go bowling, and receive gifts.

NCOE Elementary/Mr. Reavis:

-Attendance is 91.6%.

-New lockers are working out very well.

-Completing the schedule for next year and possibly splitting the jr high lunch schedule.

-Jr. High dance is Friday.

NCOE Elementary/PreK/Mrs. Carter-

-32 students signed up at Kindergarten registration.

-Kindergarten screenings will be May 22 and 23.

-Classes are going on educational fieldtrips in the month of May.

-Accelerated Reading trip will be May 2nd and May 3rd.

Motion to approve the Booth Trust monthly report with a balance of $43,779.07 by Matt McArthy. Second by Heath Rush. Roll Call Vote- Matt McArthy, yes; Frank Graves, yes; Rhonda Forston, yes; Heath Rush, yes; Joe Lane, yes; Mike Hite, yes. Motion Carried.

First Reading of PRESS Board Policy Updates Release #114: (new) 2:270, (Update) 2:260, 2:265, 3:40E, 4:190, 5:10, 5:100, 5:20, 5:300, 7:10, 7:20, 7:180, 7:270, 7:10E. No action taken.

Motion to approve Intergovernmental Agreement with the Village of Norris City for School Resource Officer by Matt McArthy. Second by Heath Rush. Roll Call Vote- Matt McArthy, yes; Frank Graves, yes; Rhonda Forston, yes; Heath Rush, yes; Joe Lane, yes; Mike Hite, yes. Motion Carried.

Motion to apply for the Community Eligibility Provision program for the 2024-2025 school year by Matt McArthy. Second by Mike Hite. Roll Call Vote- Matt McArthy, yes; Frank Graves, yes; Rhonda Forston, yes; Heath Rush, yes; Joe Lane, yes; Mike Hite, yes. Motion Carried.

Public Input:

-none

Motion to move into Executive Session at 7:57 p.m. by Matt McArthy. Second by Heath Rush. Unanimous Vote. Motion Carried.

Return to Regular Session at 8:07 p.m.

Motion to accept the resignation from Deborah Campbell, cook/aide, by Joe Lane. Second by Matt McArthy. Unanimous Vote. Motion Carried.

Motion to hire Skyler Morss, aide/cook, by Joe Lane. Second by Matt McArthy. Roll Call Vote- Matt McArthy, yes; Frank Graves, yes; Rhonda Forston, yes; Heath Rush, yes; Joe Lane, yes; Mike Hite, yes. Motion Carried.

Motion to adjourn at 8:08 p.m. by Joe Lane. Second by Mike Hite. Unanimous Vote. Motion Carried.
