State Representative Patrick Windhorst has issued a reminder to residents about the upcoming deadline for his annual "Southern Illinois is Beautiful" photo contest. The final date for submissions is next Friday, November 8.

"This year’s contest offers two categories. Students aged Kindergarten through age 21 will make up our student category, and our adult category is for those over the age of 21," Windhorst stated. He added, "We are already receiving some beautiful submissions, and I believe this ‘Southern Illinois is Beautiful’ photo contest will be even bigger and better than last year."

Participants are required to submit their photos via email to Windhorst@ILHouseGOP.org by midnight on November 8, 2024. Each submission must include the photographer's name and the location where the photo was taken in Southern Illinois.

The contest will select three finalists in each category. Voting will commence on Tuesday, November 12th and continue until Tuesday, November 26th at 5:00 PM. Finalists' photos will be posted on Rep. Windhorst’s official Facebook page for public voting. The photos with the most likes and loves will win. Winners will be announced at noon on Friday, November 29th.

Winning photographs will be displayed in Rep. Windhorst’s district offices in Harrisburg and West Frankfort as well as his Springfield Capitol office. Contest winners will receive an official certificate of congratulations from the Illinois House of Representatives.

All submitted photographs must be original works by the photographers themselves.
