In other news related to state affairs in Illinois, Governor JB Pritzker announced an extensive multi-year program called Rebuild Illinois in July 2023. This program aims at improving and repairing all modes of transportation across the state with an investment of over $40 billion over six years.
The Illinois Department of Transportation revealed that ten major projects in Chicago are either being planned or implemented under this program with an investment of $396 million. These projects aim at improving safety and mobility on Illinois's roads and bridges. Three out of these ten projects are scheduled for completion in 2024 while the remaining seven are projected for completion between 2025 through 2030.
Furthermore, Kane County will see seven projects completed under this program with an investment of $107 million. Central Cook County will also benefit from this initiative with ten projects costing $220 million aimed at constructing roads and bridges.
