FOIA Request to White County Regarding FOIA Logs from January to October 2024 on October 7, 2024.

A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent by SE Illinois News to White County, Illinois, seeking detailed logs of all FOIA requests made to the county between January 1 and October 7, 2024. The request specifically asked for the requester's name and organization, the content of the request, the date it was made and completed, and its current status.

The request was made as part of SE Illinois News' commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs. As a media organization, access to public records is crucial in fulfilling our professional responsibilities which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.

In other news related to Illinois state affairs, the Illinois Department of Transportation announced in July 2023 the most extensive multi-year program called Rebuild Illinois. This program aims at improving and repairing all modes of transportation across the state. Governor JB Pritzker said, "Over the next six years, we're investing over $40 billion to improve all modes of transportation across our great state. That means better roads and bridges, modernized transit and aviation, and expanded and faster passenger rail service."

According to the Illinois Department of Transportation, JB Pritzker's Rebuild Illinois program is planning or implementing ten major projects in Chicago. The program is investing $396 million in these projects aimed at improving safety and mobility on Illinois's roads and bridges. Three out of these ten projects are scheduled for completion in 2024 while seven are projected for completion between 2025 through 2030.

The department also announced that they are investing $107 million in seven projects slated for completion in Kane County under the Rebuild Illinois program. In central Cook County, the program is investing $220 million in ten projects for road and bridge construction.
