FOIA Request to City of Eldorado Regarding Unpaid Parking Violations on October 28, 2024.

As part of our ongoing commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at SE Illinois News have sent a request under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act (5 ILCS 140) to the City of Eldorado.

The request specifically asks for a list of all parking violations currently unpaid within the city. The details requested include the name of the offender, their address, the amount due, violation date, and total due.

As a media organization, we believe in holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Access to public records is essential for us to fulfill these professional responsibilities. We are confident that this information will shed light on important local issues and contribute to an informed citizenry.

We have also requested a fee waiver as a media professional given our role in disseminating information.

We await the response from the City of Eldorado and will continue our work in ensuring transparency in local government affairs.
