In other news related to state affairs, Governor JB Pritzker announced in July 2023 the most extensive multi-year program called Rebuild Illinois. This ambitious initiative aims to improve and repair all modes of transportation across the state over the next six years with an investment exceeding $40 billion.

According to the Illinois Department of Transportation, ten major projects are currently being planned or implemented in Chicago under this program. With an investment of $396 million earmarked for these projects alone, they aim to enhance safety and mobility on Illinois's roads and bridges. Three out of these ten projects are scheduled for completion in 2024 while the remaining seven are projected for completion between 2025 and 2030.

Furthermore, Kane County is set to benefit from seven projects worth $107 million under Rebuild Illinois. Central Cook County is also due for significant infrastructure upgrades with ten projects valued at $220 million slated for construction of roads and bridges.

These developments are a testament to the state's commitment to modernizing its transportation infrastructure and providing better services to its residents.
