FOIA Request to City of Albion Regarding Building Permits on October 30, 2024.
As part of our ongoing commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at SE Illinois News have sent a request under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act (5 ILCS 140) to the City of Albion.
Our request pertains specifically to new residential and commercial building permits issued from January 1, 2023, up until today's date. We have asked for details such as the type of permit, date issued, fee paid, requester's name, address, and contractor name.
In addition to this, we are also seeking information about all active residential and commercial building permits along with their current status. The same fields mentioned above are requested for these active permits as well.
Access to public records is crucial for us in fulfilling our professional responsibilities which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. As a media organization dedicated to reporting news to the public, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver.
