Wabash Community Unit School District 348 Board of Education met Oct. 21.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

The Board of Education of Wabash Community Unit School District #348, Wabash County, met in Regular Session on Monday, October 21, 2024 in the Mt. Carmel Grade School Cafetorium.

President Schuler called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

Secretary Theresa Hocking called the roll. In addition to the secretary, those present were Tim Schuler, Gregg Wilcox, Jamie McCorkle, Janice Alka, Susan Wood and Kyle Peach.

Also present were Superintendent Dr. Chuck Bleyer, Brianne Foster –MCGS Principal, Jake Newkirk –MCES Principal, Logan Crum –MCJH Assistant Principal, Kevin Kling –MCGS Assistant Principal, Kevin Madden –WSJD, Shelley Harris–Parent, and District Secretary Kim Zimmer.

President Schuler led the pledge of allegiance to the flag.

A motion to approve the consent agenda was made by Alka and seconded by Wood. A roll call vote was taken and all present voted AYE. Motion Carried.

Reports –Logan Crum and Kevin Kling

Both assistant principals explained their job duties to the board. Crum said he was focused on the junior high responsibilities. Kling talked about building safety and discipline at the grade school.

Superintendent’s Comments

Dr. Bleyer told the board that due to a conflict in scheduling with the football game, the parent teacher conferences were moved from October 24th to October 29th. He also noted that the glycol replacement at MCGS had been completed. Also the robot mower at the high school was being replaced due to damage.

Executive Session pursuant to Section 2 (C)(1) of the Open Meetings Act: “The appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees”.

The Board did not meet in Executive Session.

A motion to approve the following employment recommendations was made by Hocking and seconded by Peach:

A motion to adjourn was made by Peach and seconded by Woodcock. All present voted AYE. Motion Carried. Meeting adjourned at 7:11 p.m.
