The Carmi City Council met Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at 5:30 p.m. in the Council Room of the Municipal Building, 225 East Main Street for a special meeting.
Prior to opening the council meeting, Mayor Pollard asked Alderman Winkleman to give the invocation followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
Mayor Pollard presided with the following Aldermen present: Steve Winkleman, Mark W. Blake, Tracy Nelson, Lacey Bradshaw, Jeremy Courson, Mike Knight, and Doug Hays. Absent: Sheila Headlee
For council consideration, discussion, and possible approval
Alderman Courson stated, “The following items are requested to be purchased using donated funds being held at First Mid Bank in a restricted account for the Carmi Fire Department Under 65 ILCS 5/8-9-1 as the items are reasonably priced.”
a) Purchase of a 2024 CAN-AM Defender LTD from Car Corral Polaris for $31773.99 using donated funds for the Carmi Fire Department. Alderperson Hays made a motion to purchase a 2024 CAN-AN Defender LTD from Car Corral Polaris for $31773.99 using donated funds being held at First Mid Bank in a restricted account for the Carmi Fire Department under 65 ILCS 5/8-9-1. Alderperson Courson seconded the motion. The motion carried on roll call by each Alderperson present answering “yes.”
b) Purchase of a 2025 Chevrolet CK30903-3500 HD Silverado L WB, 4WD, Regular Cab from Rice Motor Company for $52,266.13 using donated funds for the Carmi Fire Department. Alderperson Courson made a motion for purchase of a 2025 Chevrolet CK30903-3500 HD Silverado L WB, 4WD, Regular Cab from Rice Motor Company for $52,266.13 using donated funds being held at First Mid Bank in a restricted account for the Carmi Fire Department under 65 ILCS 5/8-9-1. The motion was seconded by Alderperson Hays. The motion carried on roll call by each Alderperson present answering “yes.”
c) Purchase of a 2025 Chevrolet CK20745-2500 HD Silverado; 4WD, Standard Box Crew Cab from Rice Motor Company for $54,978.23 using donated funds for the Carmi Fire Department. Alderperson Hays made a motion to purchase of a 2025 Chevrolet CK20745-2500 HD Silverado; 4WD, Standard Box Crew Cab from Rice Motor Company for $54,978.23 using donated funds being held at First Mid Bank in a restricted account for the Carmi Fire Department under 65 ILCS 5/8-9-1. Alderperson Courson seconded the motion. The motion carried on roll call by each Alderperson present answering “yes.”
