Fire departments in Illinois have the chance to apply for financial assistance through a new Fire Station Construction and Rehabilitation Grant Program. The initiative, managed by the office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal, offers grants up to $350,000 per department. A total of $5 million is allocated for this program.

Eligibility criteria require fire departments to maintain active registration with SAM.gov and the state's grantee portal. They must also comply with NFIRS standards, ensuring accurate reporting of all incidents, including ambulance calls, from December 2022 through November 2024.

The deadline for electronic submissions or postmarked applications is February 28, 2025. For further details on the grant program and how to apply, more information is available online.
