New Hope Consolidated Community School District #6 Board of Education met Nov. 19.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

The New Hope Board of Education met on November 19, 2024 at 6:00 P.M. in the work room of the school.

President Jeremy Vaughan called the meeting to order at 6:01 P.M.

Jason Simpson made a motion to approve the consent agenda containing approval of October 15, 2024 regular meeting minutes, acceptance of the treasurer’s report as of October 31, 2024, approval to pay bills, and approval to destroy closed session audio recordings older than 18 months. Second by Brandon Fry.

Nay: None Carried

Treasurer’s Report and current financial information. Bank balances as of October 31, 2024:

Fairfield National Bank Checking: $1,526,117.49

IPTIP: $1,059.47

Fairfield National Bank Money Market: $378,209.53

Fairfield National Bank CD: $520,199.99

Dan Devous arrived at 6:02 P.M.

Ryan Green arrived at 6:02 P.M.

Mrs. Pope presented the Superintendent’s Report: We have applied for the Property Tax Relief Grant. This is something we apply for each year but will probably not be granted. The Illinois Report Card rating for schools is based on reading, math, and science scores as well as the 5 Essentials Survey. New Hope received a Commendable rating. This means that we did not score in the top 10% in the state but no underperforming students. This year’s parameter index for Exemplary was 84.04%. New Hope scored an 84.03%, missing Exemplary rating by one- tenth of a point. However, New Hope’s IAR and IASC scores are leading in math and reading when compared to area schools and science is second. 72% of students are meeting overall. In addition, the expenditure to pupil costs are less than schools in our area. Included in the board packets is an outline for the Digital Literacy class curriculum Larry has been working on. The Christmas program and band concert is on December 13th at 6:00 P.M. at First Christian Church in Fairfield. The sports booster’s annual girls 7th grade tournament is scheduled for December 20th and 21st . Joint Annual Conference itinerary was given to the members attending the conference in Chicago.

1. Ryan Green made a motion to adopt board policy update issues 116 and 117. Second by

2. Jason Simpson made a motion to approve estimate of the aggregate tax levy. Second by Jeremy Gray.

Voice Vote: Yea: Jeremy Gray, Jason Simpson, Dan Devous, Brandon Fry, Tom Barton, Ryan Green, Jeremy Vaughan

Nay: None Carried

Tim King arrived at 6:21 P.M. and presented the board with information regarding selling of bonds, difference between health, life, safety bonds and working cash bonds, and the schedule to follow should we move forward. The board discussed the probability of moving forward with health, life, safety bond versus the working cash bonds.

Jason Simpson made a motion to enter executive session at 6:44 P.M. for student discipline and employee compensation. Second by Brandon Fry.

Nay: None Carried

Dan Devous made a motion to return to open session at 7:04 P.M. Second by Jason Simpson.

Nay: None Carried

3. Jeremy Gray made a motion to approve additional compensation for employees. Full-time employees $750 and part-time employees $375.

Nay: None

Abstain: Tom Barton Carried

Jason Simpson made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:07 P.M. Second by Dan Devous.
