On Monday, House Republican Leader Tony McCombie announced the members of her leadership team for the Illinois House of Representatives. Patrick Windhorst from Metropolis has been re-appointed as House Republican Floor Leader. Windhorst expressed gratitude for the continued trust placed in him by McCombie. He recently began his fourth term as State Representative during the inaugural ceremonies for the 104th General Assembly and will serve a second consecutive term as Floor Leader.

Windhorst stated, "I am grateful to Leader McCombie for once again selecting me to serve on her Leadership team, and doubly honored to serve as House Republican Floor Leader. In this role, I will ensure that southern Illinoisans will have a voice on every bill that moves through the General Assembly." He added that his responsibilities include reviewing every bill presented in the House and managing debate and questions from Republicans on both straightforward and controversial legislation. "It is my job as Floor Leader to ensure transparency for the taxpayers of Illinois and bring attention to legislation harmful to individuals, working families, and state finances," he said.

McCombie commended Windhorst's performance in his role, stating that his re-appointment was an easy decision. "Patrick Windhorst is one of the most talented legislators in our caucus. As our Floor Leader, he has been thorough, tough, and fair," she remarked. She also highlighted his ability to hold supermajority Democrats accountable for their legislative actions.

The 104th General Assembly presents new challenges which both McCombie and Windhorst are prepared to address while advocating for taxpayer interests.
