State Representative Patrick Windhorst of Metropolis, Illinois, has launched a petition to oppose the proposed legalization of prostitution in the state. This move comes in response to recent legislative efforts by Illinois Democrats that seek to legalize the practice.

Windhorst expressed his concerns about the potential consequences of such a measure. "When I learned that an Illinois legislator was pursuing the legalization of prostitution, I was at first in disbelief," he stated. He further elaborated on his worries regarding the safety and well-being of women, saying, "I became disturbed and concerned for the health, well-being, and safety of women of all ages."

The representative is reaching out to his constituents through an online petition hosted on his website. The initiative allows residents to voice their opposition to legalized prostitution and share their views on the matter. Windhorst emphasized the importance of gathering public opinion by stating, "I want to know what my constituents think, honestly, about this proposal."

He remains hopeful that feedback from southern Illinoisans will demonstrate strong opposition to the proposed legislation. "If the results are what I believe they will be, southern Illinoisans will reject this dangerous effort," Windhorst added.
