Hamilton County Community Unit School District 10 Board of Education met Dec. 17.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

The Board of Education of Hamilton County Community Unit District No. 10 met in regular session on the morning of December 17, 2024 at 10:30 a.m., in the Administrative Center.

The meeting was called to order by Board President Dennis Lynch. Roll Call was as follows: Present – Steve Becker, Bob Gray, Jeff Lueke, Tim Millenbine, Clint Ragan, Justin Woodrow and Dennis Lynch.

Motion by Woodrow, second by Becker to approve the following items under the Consent Agenda: The minutes from the November 19, 2024 Special Board Meeting and the minutes from the November 19, 2024 Regular Board Meeting, Treasurer’s Report, Budget reports, District bill listing, destruction of Executive Session Audio Recordings older than 18 months per Code. First Reading Policies: 2:105, 2:120, 4:30, 4:60, 4:170, 5:10, 5:20, 5:90, 5:120, 5:125, 5:230, 6:60, 6:135, 6:270, 7:10, 7:100, 7:180, 7:200, 8:10. Out of State Trip(s): Lindsey Kessler end-of-year trip to Holiday World, Santa Claus, IN on May 16, 2025 and Lynnette Staley end-of-year trip to Holiday World, Santa Claus, IN on May 21, 2025; Roll Call Vote – Voting Yes – Woodrow, Becker, Gray, Lueke, Ragan, Millenbine, and Lynch. Motion carried.

SUPERINTENDENT’S REPORT - Status

Mr. McCollum updated the Board on the following: Grant updates.

OLD BUSINESS – None

NEW BUSINESS –

Motion by Gray, second by Lueke to approve opting out of ISBE College and Career Pathway Endorsement System. Roll Call Vote – Voting Yes – Gray, Lueke, Ragan, Becker, Millenbine, Woodrow, and Lynch. Motion carried.

Motion by Lueke, second by Millenbine to approve an Agreement between Hamilton County Community Unit School District and Hamilton County Coal, LLC and Alliance WOR Properties, LLC regarding the tax abatement on properties commonly known as Hamilton County Coal. Roll Call Vote – Voting Yes – Lueke, Millenbine, Gray, Ragan, Becker, Woodrow, and Lynch. Motion carried.

Motion by Woodrow, second by Becker to approve a resolution to support Vision 30/30. Roll Call Vote – Voting Yes – Woodrow, Becker, Gray, Ragan, Millenbine, Lueke, and Lynch. Motion carried.

Motion by Becker, second by Ragan to approve a resolution to reschedule the January board meeting. Roll Call Vote – Voting Yes – Becker, Ragan, Woodrow, Gray, Millenbine, Lueke, and Lynch. Motion carried.

Motion by Ragan, second by Millenbine to convene in executive session at 10:39 a.m. to discuss appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance or dismissal of a specific employee(s) or office of the public body, and pending litigation pursuant to 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(1). Roll Call Vote – Voting Yes – Ragan, Millenbine, Becker, Lueke, Gray, Woodrow, and Lynch. Motion carried.

Motion by Millenbine, second by Gray to come out of executive session at 11:47 a.m. Roll Call Vote – Voting Yes – Millenbine, Gray, Becker, Lueke, Ragan, Woodrow, and Lynch. Motion carried.

Motion by Ragan, second by Millenbine to approve the minutes from executive session. Vote was taken by voice and motion carried.

Motion by Lueke, second by Becker to accept an irrevocable four-year notice of intent to retire letter from Lynnette Staley, Music Teacher, effective at the end of the 2028-2029 school year. Roll Call Vote – Voting Yes – Lueke, Becker, Ragan, Gray, Woodrow, Millenbine, and Lynch. Motion Carried.

Motion by Ragan, second by Millenbine to employ Grace Lueke as the High School Softball Coach for the 2025 season. Roll Call Vote – Voting Yes – Ragan, Millenbine, Lueke, Gray, Becker, Woodrow, and Lynch. Motion Carried.

Motion by Ragan, second by Millenbine to re-employ Clint Winemiller as the Jr. High School Girls Track Coach for the 2025 season. Roll Call Vote – Voting Yes – Ragan, Millenbine, Lueke, Gray, Becker, Woodrow, and Lynch. Motion Carried.

Motion by Ragan, second by Millenbine to re-employ Doug Miller as the Jr. High School Boys Track Coach for the 2025 season. Roll Call Vote – Voting Yes – Ragan, Millenbine, Lueke, Gray, Becker, Woodrow, and Lynch. Motion Carried.

Motion by Ragan, second by Millenbine to employ Jeremy Varner as the High School Baseball Coach for the 2025 season. Roll Call Vote – Voting Yes – Ragan, Millenbine, Lueke, Gray, Becker, Woodrow, and Lynch. Motion Carried.

Motion by Ragan, second by Millenbine to employ Rhet Vaughan as the High School Boys & Girls Track Coach for the 2025 season. Roll Call Vote – Voting Yes – Ragan, Millenbine, Lueke, Gray, Becker, Woodrow, and Lynch. Motion Carried.

Motion by Ragan, second by Millenbine to re-employ Drew Imhoff as the High School Assistant Track Coach for the 2025 season. Roll Call Vote – Voting Yes – Ragan, Millenbine, Lueke, Gray, Becker, Woodrow, and Lynch. Motion Carried.

Motion by Woodrow, second by Becker to approve Olivia Ragan as a volunteer Cheerleading Coach for the remainder of the 2024-2025 season. Roll Call Vote – Voting Yes – Woodrow, Becker, Lueke, Millenbine, Ragan, Gray, and Lynch. Motion Carried.

Motion by Woodrow, second by Becker to approve Marcy Hood as a volunteer Jr. High Track Coach for the 2025 season. Roll Call Vote – Voting Yes – Woodrow, Becker, Lueke, Millenbine, Ragan, Gray, and Lynch. Motion Carried.

Motion by Ragan, second by Lueke to post for Elementary Teacher(s). Vote was taken by voice and motion carried.

Motion by Lueke, second by Woodrow to adjourn. Vote was taken by voice, motion carried and the meeting adjourned at 11:50 a.m.
