State Representative Patrick Windhorst of Metropolis has announced his committee assignments for the 104th General Assembly. Windhorst, who serves as the Illinois House Republican Floor Leader, shared his intentions to focus on key issues facing the state.
“I am honored to serve as the Illinois House Republican Floor Leader and look forward to leading the debate on crucial legislation,” said Rep. Windhorst. He emphasized challenges such as ethics reforms and restoring law and order in communities, stating his commitment to support police officers, victims' rights, and transparent governance.
Windhorst will participate in several important committees within the Illinois House. As a proponent of ethical governance, he has been vocal about comprehensive ethics reforms aimed at combating public corruption.
“Illinois has seen too many public officials abuse their positions for personal gain," Windhorst stated. "As the House Republican ranking member and Spokesperson on the House Ethics and Elections Committee, I will be working to restore public trust in government by pushing for stronger anti-corruption measures.”
Before joining the legislature, Windhorst served as State’s Attorney for Massac County for 14 years. He credits this experience with informing his role as ranking member and Republican Spokesperson on three committees focused on criminal law.
“I have always been a steadfast supporter of law enforcement and an advocate for the rights of victims of crime,” he noted. “I am dedicated to implementing policies that prioritize public safety, hold criminals accountable, and provide law enforcement with necessary resources.”
He further stated: “Illinoisans deserve a government that is accountable, transparent, and committed to upholding the rule of law. I will continue to work tirelessly to ensure our communities are safe and that our state upholds the highest ethical standards.”
Windhorst operates district offices in Harrisburg and West Frankfort. He can be contacted at 618-294-8703 or via email at Windhorst@ILHouseGOP.org.
