State Representative Patrick Windhorst has voiced his concerns regarding Governor JB Pritzker's budget proposal, which he describes as record-breaking in its spending. The proposal, presented during a combined State of the State/Budget Address at the Illinois House Chamber, amounts to over $55 billion. Windhorst highlighted that this figure exceeds the governor's first budget by more than $15 billion.

Windhorst criticized the current fiscal policies, stating, "They have stretched our taxpayers to the absolute limit, and their tax-and-spend policies have failed." He emphasized his priorities for addressing Illinois' financial issues: lowering taxes, reducing regulation, and boosting private sector employment.

He further outlined his approach: "My budget priorities revolve around economic growth through reforming our government and reducing the tax burden on families." Windhorst expressed opposition to any potential tax increases and advocated for ending what he termed "failed and costly Sanctuary State policies."

As budget negotiations commence, Windhorst urged legislative restraint on new spending initiatives. He stated, "It is time to tighten our belt, focus on growing our way out of this mess, and provide some relief for our citizens."

Additionally, Windhorst expressed dissatisfaction with what he perceived as political rhetoric in Pritzker's address. He remarked that instead of focusing on state-specific issues, the Governor concentrated more on national matters and personal political ambitions.
