Norris City Omaha Enfield Community Unit School District 3 Board of Education met Jan. 15.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

The regular meeting of the Board of Education of Norris City-Omaha-Enfield Community Unit School District No. 3 was held on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at the District Office. The meeting was called to order by President Joe Lane at 7:00 p.m.

Roll Call: Present- Matt McArthy, Rhonda Forston, Heath Rush, Joe Lane, Kyle Hoskins, and Mike Hite. Absent- Frank Graves

Others in Attendance: Matt Vollman, Superintendent; Carla Carter, Principal; David Reavis, Principal; Jessica Jackson, Treasurer; J.C. Tinsley; Michael Brown.

Motion to approve Regular and Public Hearing Minutes for December 2024 by Matt McArthy. Second by Heath Rush. Unanimous vote. Motion Carried.

Motion to approve the Bills by Joe Lane. Second by Matt McArthy. Roll Call Vote- Matt McArthy, yes; Rhonda Forston, yes; Heath Rush, yes; Joe Lane, yes; Kyle Hoskins, yes; Mike Hite, yes. Motion Carried.

Superintendent Report:

Matt Vollman-

-The school district has used 5 emergency days for snow and 3 Act of God days.

-School is resuming tomorrow. Bus drivers have been in contact with parents for students that may be inaccessible still due to ice/snow coverage. This will effect less than 50 students.

-May 29 is the last day for students and May 30 for teachers after exhausting the emergency days.

-Petition for the selling of bonds was filed at the 3 courthouses yesterday and it will be placed on the ballet for the April election. The County Clerks will release ballet language 10-60 days before the election. This will be published in the Hometown Register which is available to purchase locally.

-Meeting with the architect about the bid process for the high school project for the floors and doors. The project will be stalled at least 1 year without the bond passing.

Principal Reports:

NCOE Elementary/Mr. Reavis:

-93.5% K-8

-8th grade night for basketball went well and recognized the basketball players, cheerleaders, and statisticians.

NCOE Elementary/Mrs. Carter:

-89.5% pre-k.

-Reviewing and trialing 2 math curriculums this semester, IXL and Bridges of Mathematics.

-No Booth Trust report due to the snow days/delay with mail. Will bring up to date next month.

Second reading of PRESS Policy Update #116: 2:105; 2:120; 4:30; 4:60; 4:150; 4:170; 5:10; 5:20; 5:90; 5:120; 5:230; 6:60; 6:135; 6:270; 7:10; 7:100; 7:200; 8:10.

Motion to adopt PRESS Policy Update #116 as presented by Joe Lane. Second by Mike Hite. Unanimous vote. Motion Carried.

Motion to approve the firm 12 month fuel bid from Synergy at a price of $2.625 for gasoline and $2.972 for diesel by Matt McArthy. Second by Joe Lane. Roll Call Vote- Matt McArthy, yes; Rhonda Forston, yes; Heath Rush, yes; Joe Lane, yes; Kyle Hoskins, yes; Mike Hite, yes. Motion Carried.

Motion to approve the Resolution Approving Bus Installment Purchase and Banterra Bank financing by Matt McArthy. Second by Joe Lane. Roll Call Vote- Matt McArthy, yes; Frank Graves, yes; Rhonda Forston, yes; Heath Rush, yes; Joe Lane, yes; Kyle Hoskins, yes; Mike Hite, yes. Motion Carried.

Public Input: Michael Brown: Would like a copy of a treasurer's report for the month of January.

Motion to move into Executive Session at 7:20 pm by Matt McArthy. Second by Mike Hite. Unanimous Vote. Motion Carried.

Return to Regular Session 8:01 PM.

Motion to accept the resignation of Theresa Hutchinson, teacher, at the end of the 2024-2025 school year by Joe Lane. Second by Matt McArthy.

Motion to adjourn at 8:02 p.m. by Mike Hite. Second by Heath Rush. Unanimous Vote. Motion Carried.
