State Representative Patrick Windhorst and State Senator Dale Fowler have announced an upcoming Prescription Drug Drop-Off event in Metropolis, set to take place on April 26. The event aims to provide a secure option for residents to dispose of their unused or expired medications. The collected medications will be safely discarded, preventing potential misuse.

Scheduled from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., the event will be hosted at the Metropolis Police Department, located at 1020 Broadway Street. Representative Windhorst emphasized, “Too often, unused medications sit in homes where they can be misused or end up in the wrong hands. By working together with local law enforcement, we’re helping ensure these substances are disposed of safely and appropriately.”

Senator Fowler added, “Properly disposing of prescription medications not only protects our environment but also helps prevent the risk of accidental poisoning and reduces the chance of misuse or abuse. Events like this provide a safe and convenient way for families to clean out their medicine cabinets responsibly.”

The event will accept unused medications, though needles, syringes, and illegal drugs are not permitted. Those seeking further details can reach out to Senator Fowler’s office at (618) 294-8951 or Representative Windhorst’s office at (618) 294-8703.
