City of McLeansboro Township Board met March 11.

The regular monthly meeting of the McLeansboro Township met on March 11, 2025 at theTownship building located at 105 Carpenter Street.
Minutes of the Previous Meeting
The meeting was called to order by Supervisor Clydus Gray who asked for the reading of theFebruary 2025 minutes. As there were no corrections, the minutes were approved by a motionfrom Dennis Johnson and a second by Bob Brockett. Motion carried.
Old Business:
There was no old business to discuss.
New Business:
- Proposed Dissolution of Township Governments: Supervisor Gray has received a communication alert from the Townships of Illinois regarding the potential of dissolving townships with the County Board taking charge. SB 2217 and 2504 proposes that the Townshipform of government be consolidated with the County resulting with all Townships being eliminated. Township officials are being asked to contact Senator Suzy Hilton fromDistrict 23who is the sponsor of these bills and request a stop to SB 2217 and SB 2504. All Townshiprepresentatives are also being asked to contact their Representative regarding this matter. Supervisor Gray made a motion to adopt Resolution 2025-1 which opposes the consolidationwith County government. A second to that motion was made by Becky Cross. Motion carried. Copies of the resolution will be sent to our Representatives.
Annual Town Meeting Agenda: A motion was made by Becky Cross and seconded by DennisJohnson to approve the annual Town Meeting agenda. Motion carried.
Monthly Claims:
- Road and Bridge Fund, Building and Equipment Fund and Permanent Road Fund claims werepresented to the Board for review. Motion by Bob Brockett and seconded by Dennis Johnsonto pay those bills. Motion carried.
- Town Fund and Social Security Fund claims were presented to the Board. Motion by BeckyCross and seconded by Bob Brockett to also pay those bills. Motion carried.
With no other business to conduct, a motion to adjourn was made by Dennis Johnson andseconded by Becky Cross. Motion carried.
