Female leaders from across Illinois gathered in Springfield on Tuesday for the House Republicans' Annual "Women to Watch" Leadership Conference. State Representative Patrick Windhorst (R-Metropolis), representing the 117th District, hosted Lara Shaw, the founder and Executive Director of Hope Haven of Southern Illinois.
Hope Haven of Southern Illinois aims to empower youth by providing mental health resources and fostering resilience through community collaboration. Windhorst praised Shaw for her leadership, welcoming her as a "Woman to Watch" among Illinois leaders.
“I want to congratulate Lara Shaw on her success in building Hope Haven of Southern Illinois into an outstanding entity whose mission is to serve our youth community,” Windhorst stated. “I was proud to welcome Lara to share in conversations and panel discussions with fellow female leaders from throughout the state. The future for youth in southern Illinois is brighter because of the important work that Lara is doing through Hope Haven of Southern Illinois.”
A Licensed Social Worker, Shaw has been an advocate for the youth community for many years. She founded Hope Haven of Southern Illinois in February. The organization works to address service shortages and provide new opportunities for youth and families. Hope Haven has developed program proposals, fostered partnerships, and initiated collaborations, including a community committee and a local youth advisory board. They also participate in the Handle with Care Initiative and the Saline County Early Childhood Collaboration.
Shaw continues to strive to incorporate necessary services for youth while also supporting families and the broader community.
