State Representative Patrick Windhorst has extended his congratulations to the members of the Rural Pope County EMS and the Rural Pope County Fire Protection District. These organizations were recognized with a Certificate of Recognition Award during an annual event at the State Capitol, which honors fallen firefighters and acknowledges heroic actions by individuals and departments across Illinois.
The award celebrates dedication to fire service principles and traditions within both the state and local communities. The recognition this year was particularly significant for the Rural Pope County EMS and Fire Protection District due to their collaborative efforts with the Pope County Sheriff’s Department last June. During that incident, they successfully saved a man who had suffered a heart attack.
Rep. Windhorst expressed his admiration for these first responders, stating, “I want to congratulate all the brave and hard-working men and women of the Rural Pope County EMS & Pope County Fire Protection District on achieving this tremendous honor.” He further praised their professionalism, dedication, skill, and sacrifice in ensuring public safety.
Among those honored were Chief Joshua Light, Assistant Chief Brandon Dalton, Captain Breyer Clark, Lieutenant Billy Dalton, FF/EMR Charles Risley, FF/EMT Logan Campbell, FF/EMT Dustin Dahmer, FF/EMT Anne Light, FF/EMT Harold Sweet, FF Andrew Bonnell, FF Braeden Dalton, FF Richard “Red” Davenport, FF Peyton Deom, FF Paul Martin, FF Jason Travis, FF Steve Walker, EMT Ladonna Risley, Dispatcher Sean Lane, and Deputy Devin Graves.
