Senator Fowler announced the reopening of the public swimming pool at Dixon Springs State Park in Pope County on July 1. The pool is now operated by Arrowleaf, a nonprofit human services organization based in southern Illinois.

The pool has been a popular summer destination in Southern Illinois for many years, and its temporary closure was felt by the community. Senator Fowler praised the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) for prioritizing this project for Southern Illinois.

"Seeing it open again, thanks to the teamwork between Arrowleaf and IDNR, is a great example of what can happen when people come together to invest in our communities," said Senator Fowler. "It’s great to see this partnership come in time for the Fourth of July weekend, allowing families to get back to making memories at Dixon Springs!"

The pool and concession stand will be open from 11 a.m. Tuesday. Operating hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday through Sunday. Trained lifeguards will be present during these times. Updates about the pool can be found on its Facebook group under “Dixon Springs State Park Pool & Concession.”

Admission fees are set at $4 for children aged five and younger, $6 for youth aged six to twelve, and $8 for swimmers aged thirteen and older. Arrowleaf will also manage a small retail shop offering items such as sunscreen, goggles, sunglasses, arm floats, towels, swim diapers, and baby wipes. Additionally, they will run a concession stand providing sandwiches, hot dogs, drinks, popcorn, pretzels, nachos, candy, and more.
