Galatia Community Unit School District 1 Board of Education met June 24.

The budget and regular meeting of the Galatia Community Unit School District No. 1 Board was held in the boardroom at the Annex. Roll call was taken, and those present were Tim Pribble, Bryan McCabe, B.J. Pigg, Holly Murphy, and Amy Richey. Five (5) members present. Board President, Tim Pribble, called the meeting to order at 6:54 p.m. Also present: Superintendent, Shain Crank, HS Principal, Ashley Launius, and Recording Secretary, Michele Hankins.
President Pribble led the Board and attendees in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Tiffany Baird and Mike Cummins took the oath of office.
Roll call was taken for the budget hearing meeting, those present were Tim Pribble, Bryan McCabe, B.J. Pigg, Holly Murphy, Amy Richey, Tiffany Baird, and Mike Cummins. Seven (7) members present.
BUDGET HEARING
Mrs. Michele Hankins, District Bookkeeper, presented the FY24/25 amended budget. Total revenue for the FY24/25 school year was $6,531,625 and total expenditures were $5,979,599. This left a $552,000 increase to the fund balances.
The budget will be voted on at the regular board meeting, on June 24, 2025.

1. A motion was made by Pribble and seconded by Pigg to adjourn the Budget hearing meeting at 7:05 p.m. McCabe-aye, Cummins-aye, Murphy-aye, Baird-aye, Pribble-aye, Richey-aye, and Pigg-aye. Seven (7) ayes, motion carried.
REGULAR BOARD MEETING
Roll call was taken for the regular June 24, 2025 board meeting, those present were Tim Pribble, Bryan McCabe, B.J. Pigg, Holly Murphy, and Amy Richey, Tiffany Baird, and Mike Cummins. Seven (7) members present.
ADDITIONS/DELETIONS TO AGENDA:
There were no additions or deletions to the agenda.
EXECUTIVE SESSION:
2. A motion was made by Pribble and seconded by Murphy to enter Executive Session at 7:07 p.m. to discuss the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the public body or legal counsel for the public body, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee of the public body or against legal counsel for the public body to determine its validity; matters of student discipline or review executive session minutes. McCabe-aye, Cummins-aye, Murphy-aye, Baird-aye, Pribble-aye, Richey-aye, and Pigg-aye. Seven (7) ayes, motion carried.
3. A motion was made by Pribble and seconded by McCabe to end Executive Session at 7:28 p.m. Cummins- aye, Pigg-aye, Murphy-aye, Pribble-aye, Richey-aye, Baird-aye, and McCabe-aye. Seven (7) ayes, motion carried.
4. A motion was made by Pigg and seconded by Richey to approve the Executive Session minutes. Murphy- aye, Baird-aye, Pribble-aye, Pigg-aye, Richey-aye, McCabe-aye, and Cummins-aye. Seven (7) ayes, motion carried.
Resignation
5. A motion was made by Pribble and seconded by Pigg to accept Alex Rapp's resignation as a full-time substitute effective at the end of the 2024/2025 school year. Murphy-aye, McCabe-aye, Baird-aye, Richey- aye, Pigg-aye, Cummins-aye, and Pribble-aye. Seven (7) ayes, motion carried.
Resignation
6. A motion was made by Murphy and seconded by McCabe to accept Reese Reynolds resignation as an individual aide effective at the end of the 2024/2025 school year. McCabe-aye, Baird-aye, Murphy-aye, Richey-aye, Pigg-aye, Cummins-aye, and Pribble-aye. Seven (7) ayes, motion carried.
High School Math Teacher
7. A motion was made by McCabe and seconded by Pribble to employ Rita Griffith as a part time high school math teacher, per salary schedule, and pending background check for the 2025/2025 school year. Baird- aye, Richey-aye, Cummins-aye, Pribble-aye Murphy-aye, Pigg-aye, and McCabe-aye. Seven (7) ayes, motion carried.
Pre-K Aide
8. A motion was made by Murphy and seconded by Baird to employ Amber Brady as full time Pre-K aide for the 2025/2026 school year, pending background check. Murphy-aye, McCabe-aye, Baird-aye, Richey- aye, Pigg-aye, Cummins-aye, and Pribble-aye. Seven (7) ayes, motion carried.
Individual Aide
9. A motion was made by Richey and seconded by Cummins to employ Robyn Allen as an individual aide for the 2025/2026 school year. McCabe-aye, Baird-aye, Murphy-aye, Richey-aye, Pigg-aye, Cummins- aye, and Pribble-aye. Seven (7) ayes, motion carried.

10. A motion was made by Murphy and seconded by Pribble to employ Kerrigan Hall as an individual aide for the 2025/2026 school year. Baird-aye, Richey-aye, Cummins-aye, Pribble-aye Murphy-aye, Pigg-aye, and McCabe-aye. Seven (7) ayes, motion carried.

11. A motion was made by Pribble and seconded by McCabe to employ Alexis Hunziker as an individual aide for the 2025/2026 school year. Murphy-aye, McCabe-aye, Baird-aye, Richey-aye, Pigg-aye, Cummins-aye, and Pribble-aye. Seven (7) ayes, motion carried.

12. A motion was made by Pribble and seconded by Richey to employ Shelby Fricker as an individual aide for the 2025/2026 school year, pending background check. McCabe-aye, Baird-aye, Murphy-aye, Richey- aye, Pigg-aye, Cummins-aye, and Pribble-aye. Seven (7) ayes, motion carried.
Elementary Aide
13. A motion was made by Pribble and seconded by Richey to employ Madison Hungate as an elementary classroom aide for the 2025/2026 school year. McCabe-aye, Baird-aye, Murphy-aye, Richey-aye, Pigg- aye, Cummins-aye, and Pribble-aye. Seven (7) ayes, motion carried.
Non-certified raises
14. A motion was made by McCabe and seconded by Richey to approve the non-certified staff raises as presented. Baird-aye, Richey-aye, Cummins-aye, Pribble-aye Murphy-aye, Pigg-aye, and McCabe-aye. Seven (7) ayes, motion carried.

15. A motion was made by Pribble and seconded by Richey to approve the bookkeeper raise as presented. McCabe-aye, Cummins-aye, Murphy-aye, Baird-aye, Pribble-aye, Richey-aye, and Pigg-aye. Seven (7) ayes, motion carried.
PRINCIPAL REPORT:
Master Schedules: Mrs. Launius presented the junior high and high school master class schedules for review.
Golden Apple Mock Interviews: Mr. Crank and Mrs. Launius participated in the Golden Apple mock interviews and education career fair for college juniors.
Summer Professional Development for Teachers: We have completed our summer in person PD we offer for educators.
Handbook Committee: In late July we will have our handbook committee meeting.
SUPERINTENDENT REPORT:
Generators: Mr. Crank suggested having a generator at the elementary school building for the community to use if we ever are out of power for a period of time. Loyd Electric gave a quote for generators for the elementary school and high school kitchen. The cost to have a generator at the high school is significantly more than what we would ever lose in food if the power went out. We will need to bid out the job.
School Buses: Central Bus gave us a quote on a 71 passenger bus. This will be on the July's agenda.
Bonds: FY26 will be out last bond payment. Kevin Wills with Bernardi Securities gave us options for the next bond. There will be several items on our health/life safety inspection that will need attention.
Building Upgrades:
Elementary school has two new water fountains installed.
The Annex building (old weight room) has been painted and will have carpet installed this summer. High School has a new entrance in the student parking area.
• Bus Barn ventilation: Jim Rann has not given us a quote yet for the concrete.
Elementary ball field fence repairs. Stone's Outdoor Services gave a quote to replace the chain link from the dugout approximately 50' to where the newer fence starts. Replace fence around the dug outs, and replace the back stop. There was discussion to also get a price to repair the dugouts.
Breakfast/Lunch Program: There was discussion on the breakfast/lunch program expenditures/revenue. The last few years we have operated in a deficient.

16. A motion was made by Pribble and seconded by Richey to approve the regular meeting minutes of May 27, 2025. Cummins-aye, Murphy-aye, Pribble-aye, Richey-aye, Baird-aye, Pigg-aye, and McCabe-aye. Seven (7) ayes, motion carried.
17. A motion was made by Pigg and seconded by Richey to approve the bills and payroll as presented. Pigg- aye, Baird-aye, Murphy-aye, Pribble-aye, Cummins-aye, McCabe-aye, and Richey-aye. Seven (7) ayes, motion carried.
18. A motion was made by McCabe and seconded by Baird to approve the treasurer's report and co-mingled account as presented. McCabe-aye, Cummins-aye, Murphy-aye, Pigg-aye, Baird-aye, Pribble-aye, and Richey-aye. Seven (7) ayes, motion carried.
NEW BUSINESS:
Adopt Amended FY25 Budget
19. A motion was made by Pribble and seconded by Cummins to adopt the amended FY25 budget that was presented at the budget hearing meeting. McCabe-aye, Cummins-aye, Murphy-aye, Baird-aye, Pribble- aye, Richey-aye, and Pigg-aye. Seven (7) ayes, motion carried.
Registration Fees
20. A motion was made by Pigg and seconded by Baird to waive school registration fees until further notice. Pigg-aye, Baird-aye, Murphy-aye, Pribble-aye, Cummins-aye, McCabe-aye, and Richey-aye. Seven (7) ayes, motion carried.
Elem and HS Generators will be tabled until the July 2025 meeting.
Elementary Fence
21. A motion was made by Pigg and seconded by Cummins to approve the quote of $7,500.00 from Stone's Outdoor Services for the elementary ballfield fence repairs. McCabe-aye, Cummins-aye, Murphy-aye, Baird-aye, Pribble-aye, Richey-aye, and Pigg-aye. Seven (7) ayes, motion carried.
