Jasper Community Consolidated School District #17 Board of Education met July 11.

A special meeting of the Jasper School Board of Education for the hearing was called to order by President Josh Zurliene and Beth Titzer taking the minutes, on July 11, 2025 at 5:30 p.m. with following board members present:

Board Members Present: Justin Atwood, Jarad Blanton, Beth Titzer & Josh Zurliene

Board Members Absent: Caitlin Glisson, Wesley Legg & Shawn Otey

A motion was made by Josh Zurliene and seconded by Jarad Blanton to approve moving into executive closed session in accordance with school board policy 2:220-E2 items #1, the appointment, employment compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the District (5ILCS 120/2a). The votes were as follows:

Justin Atwood – yes Shawn Otey – absent

Jarad Blanton – yes Beth Titzer –yes

Caitlin Glisson –absent Josh Zurliene-yes

Wesley Legg-absent

A motion was made by Jarad Blanton and seconded by Justin Atwood to approve moving out of executive closed session at 6:41 p.m. The votes were as follows:

Jarad Blanton – yes Beth Titzer –yes

Caitlin Glisson –absent Josh Zurliene-yes

Wesley Legg-absent

A motion was made by Beth Titzer and seconded by Jarad Blanton to approve executive session minutes as recorded. The votes were as follows:

Caitlin Glisson –absent Josh Zurliene-yes

A motion was made by Josh Zurliene and seconded by Justin Atwood to employ Amelia Byars as 2/5 time speech-language pathologist with benefits prorated to 2/5 except for health insurance

benefit and to begin at year 3; MS+32 on the 2025-2026 certified teacher pay scale. The votes were as follows:

A motion was made by Justin Atwood and seconded by Beth Titzer to approve adjourning the meeting at 6:42 p.m. The votes were as follows:
