Community Unit School District #201 Board of Education met July 15.

CALL TO ORDER

On July 15, 2025, at 6:44 p.m. President Conover called to order the regular meeting of the Community Unit School District 201 Board of Education.

Roll Call 

Members Present: Leah Conover, Carlos Hevia, Jessica Radogno, Adina Hoover, Kevin Marren, Lauren Zekiri Members 

Absent: None.

Also present: Superintendent Jack Baldermann, Ron O’Connor, Assistant Superintendent of Finance and HR, and the Superintendent’s Administrative Assistant, Shannon Cossairt.

Pledge of Allegiance 

President Conover led the Assembly in the Pledge of Allegiance.

CLOSED SESSION 

Motion by Mr. Marren, second by Mr. Hevia, to enter closed session to discuss personnel issues and superintendent evaluation.

Ayes: Marren, Radogno, Hevia, Zekiri, Hoover, Conover

Nays: None

Motion Carried.

The Board entered closed session at 6:45 p.m.

The Board returned to open session at 7:36 p.m.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

June 17, 2025

Motion by Ms. Radogno, second by Dr. Hoover, to approve the minutes of the June 17, 2025, regular meeting of the Board of Education, as presented. 

Ayes: Marren, Radogno, Hevia, Zekiri, Hoover, Conover 

Nays: None. 

Motion Carried.

June 17, 2025, Closed 

Motion by Dr. Hoover, second by Ms. Zekiri, to approve the minutes of the closed session of the May 13, 2025, regular meeting of the Board of Education, as presented.

Ayes: Marren, Radogno, Hevia, Zekiri, Hoover, Conover

Nays: None.

Motion Carried.

PUBLIC COMMENT 

No public comment

CONSENT AGENDA Motion by Mr. Hevia, second by Dr. Hoover, to approve the consent agenda as presented:

1. Personnel Recommendations:

● Mary Kassir, Assistant Principal, WHS

● Yesenia Trujillo, Certified School Nurse

● Araceli Rivera, Attendance Secretary, WHS

● Resignations

● Retirements

2. Approval of July 2025 Expenditure Report

3. Ratification of June 2025 Regular Payroll

INFORMATION and DISCUSSION

1. Presentation of Monthly Financial Statements

Ron O’Connor, Assistant Superintendent of Finance and HR, gave the Board an update on the Financials to date. Mr. O’Connor has included the financial reports in BoardDocs for Board and public viewing. Mr. O’Connor reviewed the revenues and expenditures and included the trends in his reports. 

2. Policy Second Reading 

The Policy Committee held a meeting on June 17, 2025, to do a first reading of the policy changes. The District has a subscription to Press Policy which reviews and updates policy according to laws and school code. The Board has its second reading now, and then will approve later in the meeting

ACTION ITEMS 

1. Approval of Authorization to Pay Additional July Bills for the 2025 and 2026 Fiscal Year

Motion by Mr. Hevia, second by Dr. Hoover, to authorize and direct the Treasurer to pay any additional bills received in July 2025 that have been budgeted for in the current or prior fiscal year, as presented.

Ayes: Hevia, Zekiri, Hooer, Conover, Marren Radogno

Nays: None

Motion Carried.

2. Approval of Policies Motion by Dr. Hoover, second by Mr. Marren, to approve the policies, as presented.

Ayes: Zekiri, Hoover, Conover, Marren Radogno, Hevia

Nays: None

Motion Carried.

SUPERINTENDENT REPORT

Communication 

Superintendent Baldermann and the Administrative team recently

held Quality Review meetings. Dr. Ryan and Ms. Just at Manning

will be emailing families to set up times to introduce themselves.
