State Representative Patrick Windhorst (R-Metropolis) has announced that applications are now open for harvest and hauling permits through the Illinois Transportation Automated Permits (ITAP) system. The announcement is aimed at farmers and agricultural transporters in Southern Illinois as the harvest season begins.
“As harvest season gets underway, it is important that farmers and ag haulers take advantage of these permits to help them get their crops from the field to the market more efficiently,” Windhorst said. “The Illinois Department of Transportation is now accepting applications, and I encourage those who will be hauling during the harvest season to apply as soon as possible.”
Windhorst also acknowledged the efforts of those working in agriculture. “I want to thank our farmers and ag haulers for their hard work and long hours during this busy season,” he said. “Agriculture is the backbone of our economy here in Southern Illinois, and I am proud to support our farm families in every way possible.”
Farmers and haulers can access permit information or submit an application online at https://webapps.dot.illinois.gov/ITAP.
Windhorst, a Republican, was elected to represent Illinois' 117th House District in 2023, succeeding Natalie Phelps Finnie.
