Community Unit School District #201 Board of Education met Sept. 9.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

CALL TO ORDER

On September 9, 2025, at 6:30 p.m., Jessica Radogno called to order the regular meeting of the Community Unit School District 201 Board of Education.

Roll Call

Members Present: Jessica Radogno, Adina Hoover, Kevin Marren, Alexandria Mil

Members Absent: Leah Conover, Carlos Hevia, Lauren Zekiri

Also present: Superintendent Jack Baldermann, Ron O’Connor, Assistant Superintendent of Finance and HR, and the Superintendent’s Administrative Assistant, Shannon Cossairt.

Pledge of Allegiance

President Conover led the Assembly in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Jesscia Radogno asked the Board members present if they would like to nominate a President Pro-Tem. Dr. Hoover nominated Jessica Radogno. No other nominations were made. A voice vote was done, and all members voted in favor of Ms. Radogno.

CLOSED SESSION

Closed session was not needed.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

August 12, 2025

Motion by Mr. Marren, second by Dr. Hoover, to approve the minutes of the August 12, 2025, regular meeting of the Board of Education, as presented.

Ayes: Radogno, Hoover, Marren, Mil

Nays: None.

Motion Carried.

August 12, 2025, Closed

Motion by Mr. Marren, second by Dr. Hoover, to approve the minutes of the closed session of the August 12, 2025, regular meeting of the Board of Education, as presented.

Ayes: Radogno, Hoover, Marren, Mil

Nays: None.

Motion Carried.

PUBLIC COMMENT

No public comment was presented.

CONSENT AGENDA

Motion by Mr. Marren, second by Dr. Hoover, to approve the consent agenda as presented:

1. Personnel Recommendations:

● Alyssa Ahlstrom, Long-term Sub, Miller

INFORMATION and DISCUSSION

1. Summer School 2025 Recap

Dr. Carla Braun, Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning, recapped the CUSD 201 summer school offerings. Dr. Braun reviewed the attendance and the offerings. Her presentation can be found in BoardDocs. Summer school was a success for the District.

2. Financial Reports

Mr. Ron O’Connor, Assistant. Superintendent of Finance and Human Resources shared some of the alternative funding the District can look at: bond refinance, state funding - maintenance grant, and any TIF money. Alternative funding would not cover what the District needs to do.

3. Working Cash Transfer

Mr. O’Connor mentioned the possibility of doing a transfer of working cash in the amount of $600k. The transfer would need Board approval and be presented in a future meeting.

4. Listening Sessions/Facility Committee Meeting -Communications

The Board held multiple listening sessions over the summer. The information was used to put together documents with information that the community is requesting to see. The information can be found on BoardDocs, or on the District website.

5. Critical Incident

Each year, the District admin from each building, led by Mike Lipinski, gets together for a Critical Incident meeting. The meeting takes place over the summer and involves representatives from the Westmont Fire and Police Departments. The group discusses drill procedures, concerns from the previous year, and upcoming drills. For safety and security reasons, this information is not shared publicly.

6. Enrollment

Current enrollment numbers are included in BoardDocs for public viewing. The enrollment is down a little bit since the previous year. The District this year has taken a tougher stance on residency requirements.

7. Policy Second Reading

Policy is being presented tonight for a second reading and will be presented in this meeting for approval.

Motion by Dr. Hoover, second by Mr. Marren, to approve the policies as updated in Press Issue 119, as presented.

SUPERINTENDENT REPORT

Communication

Superintendent Baldermann reported that the school year is off to a great start.

Recent FOIA requests are attached in BoardDocs.

BOARD REPORTS

Mr. Marren shared how pleased he was with the open house at the high school. He also wanted to thank Mr. Landreth and Mr. Dunne for coordinating a great trip downtown for the Geography Club.

Motion by Dr. Hoover, second by Mr. Marren, to adjourn the September 9, 2025, regular meeting of the Board of Education at 7:17 p.m.
