State Representative Patrick Windhorst (R-Metropolis) has announced the winners of his annual Southern Illinois is Beautiful Photo Contest. This year’s contest featured submissions from both students and adults, with Windhorst noting the high quality of entries.
“My office received several amazing submissions as part of this year’s Southern Illinois is Beautiful Photo Contest, and I was thoroughly impressed at the talent displayed by photographers in our area,” Windhorst said. “Congratulations to the winners and thank you to everyone who submitted photographs and went to my Facebook page to cast their votes.”
Rick Byrnes won the Adult Category for his photograph featuring an eagle. Wyatt Wiggins was named the Student Category Winner for his image of a fall highway scene. Winners were selected based on the number of likes and loves each photo received on Representative Windhorst’s Facebook page.
The winning photographs will be printed and displayed in Windhorst’s offices in Harrisburg, West Frankfort, and at the Springfield Capitol. Both winners will also receive an Official Certificate of Congratulations from the Illinois House of Representatives.
Windhorst, a Republican, began representing Illinois’ 117th House District after being elected in 2023, succeeding Natalie Phelps Finnie.
