House Republican Floor Leader State Representative Patrick Windhorst (R-Metropolis) has called for tax relief for Illinois residents, highlighting that the state has the highest cell phone taxes in the country.

“Illinois families were already paying the highest cell phone taxes in the nation,” Windhorst said. “Then, the Democrats dropped another tax hike on telecommunications this summer. We don’t want to be #1 in this area. Illinoisans need relief today.”

Windhorst, a Republican, was elected to represent Illinois’ 117th House District in 2023, succeeding Natalie Phelps Finnie.
