A recent ad paid for by the Illinois House Republican Organization has sent out a strong message against Sen. Gary Forby for being in Speaker Mike Madigan’s pocket.
The ad says, “For decades Mike Madigan has had an iron grip on Springfield and our own State Senator Gary Forby. Forby has helped Madigan drive Illinois into the ditch, raising our taxes while shortchanging our schools. Fourteen times, Forby’s backed Madigan’s phony budgets. $13 billion in deficit spending, to double the income tax and expand the sales tax. Forby rubber-stamped Madigan’s bailout for Chicago Public Schools. Gary Forby — Mike Madigan’s Senator, not ours.”
Forby is one of three senators that have been the target of ads by the House Republicans that air on the radio and on cable and network television. Forby was first elected in 2000, winning by three points. He has seen his margins of victory increase during his run as a senator, but is experiencing an overwhelming opposition due to his ties with the very unpopular Speaker Madigan.
