When Beth Sandusky first imagined running her own women’s boutique in her hometown of McLeansboro four years ago, Southeastern Illinois College’s (SIC) Workforce & Small Business Development Center (WISBDC) in Harrisburg served as her springboard.
Now, thanks to patience, flexibility and diligence, Sandusky’s Lexi Lane enterprise is blossoming. She credits WISBDC for providing assistance with research, planning and analysis over the past few years while she made room in her schedule to transition toward opening the store in August 2016.
“The WISBDC was such a big help and asset while trying to get my business up and going,” Sandusky said, according to the SIC website. “They go above and beyond to help, answer questions or anything needed for your business.”
The store, at 109 E. Main St. in McLeansboro, carries a wide range of women’s clothing sizes from small to 3XL. In addition, the boutique stocks accessories and home décor, both new and repurposed.
SIC’s WISBDC workforce program operates from 2 E. Locust St., Suite 200, in Harrisburg. The center was established to help existing small business owners and those who are contemplating starting a new business.
Many of its services are free; interested parties can contact 618-252-5001 to learn about upcoming events and opportunities, and to obtain help for business purposes.
