The Woodlawn Warriors boys' basketball team took home the Southern Illinois Junior High School Athletic Association Class S championship last week with a 51-35 victory over Signal Hill, marking their first title since the 2013 season.
A 12-0 run to start the fourth quarter broke open what was a tight 35-28 game heading into the final stanza, and Signal Hill was never able to really recover.
The win finalized Woodlawn's record for the year at a glistening 26-4.
The Warriors were paced in scoring by Hayden and Hunter England, who finished with 15 and 13 points, respectively.
They also got 14 points from Hunter Mays. Christian Smith worked the boards for Woodlawn, finishing the game with a leading 11 rebounds, and Hunter England also finished with double figures, grabbing 10 boards.
