New Simpson Hill Community School District 32 Board met Jan. 12.
Here is the minutes as provided by the Board:
President Hoffard called the regular board meeting of January 12, 2017, to order at 6:00 PM.
Present were: Hoffard, Mize, Johnson, Bain, Ross, Craig, and Edmonds. Administration present:
Mr. Nighswander.
Motion by Bain seconded by Johnson to approve the minutes of 12-12-16 board meeting, carried.
Motion by Bain seconded by Johnson to approve and make public record the closed session minutes of the 12-12-16 board meeting, carried.
Motion by Craig seconded by Mize to approve the financial report as presented and payment of the bills as listed in the amount of $17,587., unanimous.
ADMINISTRATIVE REPORTS: Enrollment/Mobility; Calendar; 4-6th ball schedule; Regional Tournament Info; School Board Election/vacancies.
Motion by Johnson seconded by Mize to approve the 8th grade trip for May 4-5th as presented, carried.
Motion by Mize seconded by Johnson to approve the 2016-17 Seniority List as presented, carried.
Motion by Ross seconded by Mize to approve JAMP policies as presented, carried.
Motion by Johnson seconded by Mize to authorize the Superintendent to seek price quotes on a new or late model used school bus as presented, carried.
Motion by Craig seconded by Edmonds to convene to closed session at 6:50PM to discuss:
•Discussion of minutes of meetings lawfully closed under the Open Meetings Act, whether for purposes of approval by the body of the minutes or semi-annual review of the minutes as mandated by Section 2.06. 5ILCS 120/2c (14)
•Student disciplinary cases. 5 ILCS 120/2c (8)
•Appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance or dismissal of specific employee of the District or legal counsel for the District, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee or against legal counsel for the District to determine its validity. 5 ILCS 120/2c (1) carried.
Motion by Johnson seconded by Mize to reconvene to open session at 7:08PM, carried.
Motion by Johnson seconded by Edmonds to authorize the Superintendent to advertise for custodial position(s) as presented, carried.
Motion by Craig seconded by Mize to leave the closed session minutes of 12/10/82, 01/14/83, 02/17/83, 10/08/85, 11/11/85, and 10/07/04 closed to the public, carried.
Motion by Johnson seconded by Craig to adjourn, carried.
