New Simpson Hill Community School District 32 Board met March 9.

Here is the minutes as provided by the Board:

President Hoffard called the regular board meeting of March 9, 2017, to order at 6:00PM.

Present were:  Hoffard, Mize, Johnson, Ross, Craig and Edmonds. Bain arrived at 6:15PM.  Administration present: Mr. Nighswander and Mr. Witges.  

Motion by Johnson seconded by Mize to approve the minutes of 02-09-17 board meeting, carried.

Motion by Johnson seconded by Mize to approve and make public record the closed session minutes of the 02-09-17 board meeting, carried.

Motion by Mize seconded by Johnson to approve the financial report as presented and payment of the bills as listed in the amount of $18,580., carried.

ADMINISTRATIVE REPORTS:  Calendar; Enrollment/Mobility; Lead testing requirements; Kitchen equipment grant; Election ballot; Top Flight; IASB constitution.

Motion by Edmonds seconded by Bain to approve the amended 2016-17 school calendar, carried

Motion by Craig seconded by Mize to approve the purchase of a new school bus from Midwest Bus Sales as presented, carried.

Motion by Mize seconded by Bain to accept the 2017-18 fees as presented, carried.

Motion by Bain seconded by Johnson to convene to closed session at 6:55PM to discuss:

•Appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance or dismissal of specific employee of the District or legal counsel for the District, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee or against legal counsel for the District to determine its validity. 5 ILCS 120/2c (1)

•Collective negotiating matters between the public body and its employees or their representatives, or deliberations concerning salary schedules for one or more classes of employees. 5ILCS 120/2(c)(2)

•Selection of a person to fill a public office, as defined in the Open Meetings Act, including a vacancy in a public office, when a public body is given power to appoint under law or ordinance, or the discipline, performance or removal of the occupant of a public office, when the public body is given power to remove the occupant under law or ordinance. 5ILCS 120/2(c)(3)

•Security procedures and the use of personnel and equipment to respond to an actual, a threatened, or a reasonably potential danger to the safety of employees, students, staff, the public, or public property. 5ILCS 120/2(c)(8) carried.

Motion by Craig seconded by Edmonds to reconvene to open session at 9:04PM, carried.

Motion by Bain seconded by Edmonds to accept staff evaluations as presented, carried.

Motion by Craig seconded by Johnson to approve the Principal’s evaluation as presented, carried.

Motion by Bain seconded by Ross to accept the resignation letter of Eric Witges effective June 30, 2017, carried.

Motion by Mize seconded by Johnson to authorize the Superintendent to advertise for a principal position, carried.

Motion by Craig seconded by Mize to adjourn, carried.
