Southeastern Illinois College (SIC) recently worked on transfer outreach and agreements with Eastern Illinois University (EIU), Western Illinois University (WIU) and Murray State University (MSU), according to a release from the school.
“The possibilities could be very beneficial for students, and it’s particularly nice for our students to feel wanted and know they can expect a smooth transfer process,” SIC President Dr. Jonah Rice said, according to the release.
Representatives from EIU and WIU visited the SIC campus to meet with staff and students, discussing cooperation on Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) programs. Under a new articulation agreement with EIU, SIC students will be able to complete their BSN degrees in a two-plus-two program, with the option of completing their final two years through EIU’s online program.
WIU has a similar online BSN program and a three-plus-one agreement with SIC, among other points of intersection. Additionally, SIC students can choose MSU for a two-plus-two online BSN program, as well as other online degree options.
The SIC Board of Trustees heard about the partnership opportunities at a recent meeting, which also saw Frank Barbre and Debbie Hughes re-elected to the board. Pat York was elected chair, Barbre was elected vice-chair and Jim Ellis was elected secretary.
