Rural Pope County FPD responds to 28 fires in 2016
Rural Pope County Fire Protection District responded to 28 calls in 2016, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System obtained by the SE Illinois News.
The calls in Rural Pope County included 28 fires - nine structure fires, 11 vehicle fires and eight other fires.
In all, the department saw $1,212,000 in fire loss - or about $43,286 per fire.
The calls resulted in one civilian fire-related death.
