A Boone County 4-H member Austin Brockmann recently received a top award for his work in veterinary science, according to a press release.
Brockmann was presented with a $200 cash prize during a ceremony Oct. 7 in Champaign, according to a press release issued by the University of Illinois Extension office.
The 18-year-old Garden Prairie resident is president of a county sheep producer organization and has been involved in sheep judging and showing, as well as teaching others during workshop, according to the press release. He's been a member of County Clover 4-H Club for 11 years and is a 4-H Science Ambassador.

The award is sponsored the Illinois State Veterinary Medical Association Auxiliary.
At the same ceremony, Brockmann received the Illinois Farm Bureau Leadership, Citizenship and Professionalism Award and the Emerald 4-H Project Learning Experience Award, according to the press release.
Brockmann previously won the 4-H Key Award and was a state scholarship winner.
