City of Albion City Council met Oct. 16.

Here is the minutes provided by the Council:

The Albion City Council met in regular session on Oct 16, 2017 at 6:30 p.m. in the Albion City Hall. Mayor John Henze called the

meeting to order and led Pledge of Allegiance.

Roll Call: Present- Pat Hemming, Eric Eirikson, Eric Schmidt, Kim Dostal. Jordan Hinkle – absent.

Hemming moved to approve the agenda and Schmidt seconded it. Motion passed 4-0

Schmidt moved to approve the consent agenda and was seconded by Dostal. The consent agenda consisted of regular minutes from

Aug 21, 2017, approval claims for payment, and financial reports. Motion passed 4-0.

Deputy Dean gave the sheriff’s report. No questions were asked and Deputy was thanked.

Evan McRill gave the report for the Fire Department stating it’s been quiet and pancake breakfast was a success.

Doug Loffgren spoke for the EMS department stating that Jody Wallen will be receiving training for the department.

Heartsaver/CPR/AED/Firstaid on Oct 31st 2017. The City Clerk will be leaving the office at 12:30 for training that day.

Julia Ohrt gave the Library report and presented the Mayor, Council and Staff with 10th Anniversary Library T-shirts.

No Park and Rec report. No Street Report.

Doug Loffgren for City Maintenance reported that the approaches to Main St. were repaired.

A Resolution 2017-12 to adopt Public Records Policy and Records Request Form was motioned by Dostal and seconded by Schmidt.

Resolution passed 4-0.

Information was given to the Mayor and Council pertaining to Municipal Leadership Academy for all elected officials.

The City Clerk will be out of office as a Precinct Election Official on Wed Nov 1st, 2017 for training and Election Day Tue Nov 7th, 2017

for the Election.

Rhonda Guy gave the water report. She showed the monthly water usage and billing with the percentage of loss to the City. She also

compared the current costs the City maintains with our own system compared to the cost with connecting to Rural Water. Rhonda

suggested that we continue to exercise the wells and pull samples. By request from the council she will be in contact with an engineer,

seek another possible solution for our current well situation. Also, Rhonda will look at any possible grants available as well as an

emergency hook-up solution.

Schmidt motioned and Hemming seconded the meeting adjourned at 7:43pm with a 4-0 vote.
