A Darren Bailey supporter declares “I would trust Darren with my life” in a new “The courage to do what is right” YouTube video endorsing the Xenia Republican in his run against Rep. Dave Reis (R-Willow Hill) in the 109th District GOP primary.
Reis is blasted for voting in favor of the state budget that carries a 32 percent permanent income tax hike, and another supporter says Bailey “has the courage to do whatever needs to be done.”
Bailey has long hinted he sees Reis as one of the Republicans he views as having turned their backs on the principles that would make them true conservatives.
Bailey previously told the East Central Reporter his decision to challenge Reis was made official after the tax hike was implemented with what he considers to be no reforms.
“We’re taxing and spending our way out of Illinois being the great state it’s always been,” he said. “We’ve got to rein in this budget and figure out how to stop all these tax increases and get debt under control.”
The 109th House District includes parts or all of Jasper, Effingham, Clay, Richland, Lawrence, Wabash, Wayne, Edwards and White counties.
