Analysis: Mount Carmel pays $5.05 for every $1 pensioners contribute to Mt Carmel Firefighters Pension Fund

Taxpayers contributed 83.5 percent of the $126,857 the Mt Carmel Firefighters Pension Fund brought in last year, or $5.05 for every $1 from pension members, according to a SE Illinois News analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, Mount Carmel contributed $105,913 to the fund, which saw a $23,831 increase in revenue over 2015. Members contributed $20,943, or 16.5 percent, in 2016. Another $1 came from other unspecified sources.
