Report: Edwards County spent $7,948 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at Edwards County Community Unit School District 1 is down 4 percent from five years ago, according to a SE Illinois News analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the Edwards County school district spent $8,306 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $7,948 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 970 to 938.

Edwards County's spending in 2016-17 was 39 percent lower than the state average of $12,973.
