Report: New Hope spent $8,608 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at New Hope Community Consolidated School District 6 is up 10 percent from five years ago, according to a SE Illinois News analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the Wayne County school district spent $7,842 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $8,608 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 190 to 180.

New Hope's spending in 2016-17 was 34 percent lower than the state average of $12,973.
