Righter seeks answers on House resolutions held up in committee

Springfield

Sen. Dale Righter (R-Mattoon) called out Sen. Antonio Munoz (D-Chicago) at the May 24 Senate floor debate.

Wanting to know why HJR114 -- which would title some of Route 121 in Cumberland County between CR 1450 East and CR 1600 East as the "SPC Michael Flood Memorial Highway" -- and other legislation naming district demographics has been ignored by the chair of committee assignments, Righter used his point of personal privilege at the May 24 Senate floor debate to get some answers.

“We can discuss that with the chair to see if we can get that out for you,” Munoz said.

“Is that you having a conversation with the chairman on the Committee of Assignments, or is that me having the conversation?” Righter asked.

He questioned why some resolutions titling district areas have moved out of the committee quickly and others have not.

“I just found out about is as you mentioned it but if you would talk to the chair, maybe we can get it resolved for you ASAP,” Munoz said.

Righter concluded noting he would get all resolutions named after fallen servicepeople and law enforcement officers to Munoz for prompt passage.
