Republican state House hopeful Patrick Windhorst thanked all the supporters that turned out for his recent Hamilton County fundraiser by making them a promise.
“As your state representative, I will work hard to ensure that every corner of the 118th is given the time and effort demanded by the position,” he posted to Facebook. “We need everyone from Cairo to McLeansboro, Carbondale to Shawneetown, working together to bring back Southern Illinois.”
Challenging incumbent state Rep. Natalie Phelps Finnie (D-Elizabethtown) in November’s general election, Windhorst has made the issues of tax reform and greater fiscal responsibility central themes of his campaign.

He recently attended a number of social events in the district where he had a chance to directly interact with even more voters.
“There was a lot going on yesterday,” he wrote in a separate Facebook post. “Kicked everything off with Macedonia FWBC’s Annual Bar-B-Que [sic], attended the Southern Illinois Made Expo, spent some time with other great candidates at the GOP tent at the Saline County Fair and I may have even sang a line or two with The Southlanders at the Illinois 200th Celebration at Galatia City Park.”
The 118th House District includes parts or all of Alexander, Gallatin, Hamilton, Hardin, Jackson, Johnson, Massac, Pope, Pulaski, Saline and Union counties.
