New Hope Community Consolidated School District 6 students suspended 14 times in a single school year

New Hope Community Consolidated School District 6 reported 14 suspensions for 2016-17, according to the latest student discipline report by the Illinois State Board of Education.

According to the report, the district expelled or suspended 14 students during the year. That equates to 7.8 percent of the 180 students enrolled.

Of the 14 in-school suspensions, all of whom were elementary or middle schoolers.

The district reported that most in-school suspensions were given for violence without physical injury. The category includes eight incidents. There were four incidents of unspecified reasons. For 11 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.
