Illinois House candidate Patrick Windhorst recently spoke out on social media against a campaign ad by his opponent, Rep. Natalie Phelps Finnie, that claims he would cut funding for veterans.
"If Natalie is a person of integrity, she will demand that Mike Madigan (D-Chicago) stop sending this false claim to voter’s mailboxes on her behalf,” Windhorst said on Facebook. “Her actions after today will speak volumes."
Windhorst, the Republican candidate for the 118th District, posted an editorial on Medium.com along with a photo of the advertisement.

“And Windhorst shamefully said he would oppose funding lifesaving medical care for veterans,” the ad claims.
In the Facebook post that Finnie’s mailer references, Windhorst was actually disagreeing with her over the Madigan-supported progressive income tax, he said.
“This is a dishonest political hit job using our country’s heroes as a front,” Windhorst wrote. “Veterans serve our country with honor — Natalie should stop dishonoring their lives for political gain.”
The 118th House District includes Alexander, Gallatin, Hamilton, Hardin, Jackson, Johnson, Massac, Pope, Pulaski, Saline and Union counties.
