Elizabethtown State House candidate Natalie Finnie received another $63,882 from Illinois House Speaker and Democrat Party Chief Michael Madigan (D-Chicago) between Aug. 15 and Sept. 6, state filings show.
The Madigan funding was disclosed in reports filed with the Illinois State Board of Elections (ISBE) by Friends of Natalie Finnie, the campaign committee that supports Finnie’s race against Republican Patrick Windhorst in the 111th district.
The district covers all or part of McLeansboro, Broughton, Galatia, Eldorado, Ridgeway, Muddy, Equality, Shawneetown, Harrisburg, Carbondale, Marion, Eddyville, Cave-In-Rock, Simpson, Buncombe, Anna, Vienna, Cypress, Belknap, Karnak, Tamms, Thebes, Mounds, Joppa, Olmsted, Brookport, Cairo and Metropolis.
Madigan’s contributions to Finnie came from the campaign funds he controls, including his own committee, Friends of Michael J. Madigan, the Illinois Democratic Party and the Democratic County Chairman’s Association of Illinois. In all, Madigan has contributed $75,245 to the candidate’s campaign.
From Aug. 15 to Sept. 6, Madigan spent $2.67 million backing campaigns for 31 candidates. He's spent more than $100,000 on 12 candidates and more than $40,000 on 18.
