Elizabethtown State House candidate Natalie Finnie received another $25,825 from Illinois House Speaker and Democrat Party Chief Michael Madigan (D-Chicago) between Sept. 6 and Sept. 30, state filings show.
The Madigan funding was disclosed in reports filed with the Illinois State Board of Elections (ISBE) by Friends of Natalie Phelps Finnie, the campaign committee that supports Finnie's race against Republican Patrick Windhorst in the 118th district.
The district covers all or part of McLeansboro, Broughton, Galatia, Eldorado, Ridgeway, Muddy, Equality, Shawneetown, Harrisburg, Carbondale, Marion, Eddyville, Cave-In-Rock, Simpson, Buncombe, Anna, Vienna, Cypress, Belknap, Karnak, Tamms, Thebes, Mounds, Joppa, Olmsted, Brookport, Cairo and Metropolis.
Madigan’s contributions to Finnie came from the campaign funds he controls, including his own committee, Friends of Michael J. Madigan, the Illinois Democratic Party and the Democratic County Chairman’s Association of Illinois. In all, Madigan has contributed $101,070 to the candidate’s campaign.
From Sept. 6 to Sept. 30, Madigan spent $2.67 million backing campaigns for 31 candidates. He's spent more than $100,000 on 11 candidates and more than $40,000 on 19.
