City of Mc Leansboro City Council met August 23. 

Here is the minutes as provided by the council:

Mayor Deitz called the special meeting of the McLeansboro City Council to order. Roll call: Mark Beck, Jim Mason, Tom Maulding, Mike Stanart, Richard Lasswell Don Cox-- present.


Attorney Tom Malkovich was present, David Garavalia was absent.

There were 12 members of the public present, none of whom spoke during public comments.

Street and Alleys Superintendent Windell Bowman presented a set of pictures and plans to the Council regarding repairs to South Pearl Street between Cherry and Randolph Streets. He noted his proposals were fundamental corrections to the roadway to allow for the repaving project which is scheduled for later this summer.

Mr. Lasswell made the MOTION TO ACCEPT PROPOSAL FOR CURB AND GUTTER WORK ON SOUTH PEARL STREET BETWEEN CHERRY AND RANDOLPH STREETS, second Mr. Beck. Roll call: Lasswell, Beck, Mason, Stanart, Cox. Ayes – 6. Nay – 0. Motion passed.

Mr. Cox made the MOTION TO ACCEPT PROPOSAL TO REPLACE THE RETAINING WALLS ON SOUTH PEARL STREET AT THE INTERSECTION WITH RANDOLPH STREET, second Mr. Beck. Roll call: Cox, Beck, Mason, Lasswell, Stanart, Maulding. Ayes – 6. Nay – 0. Motion passed.

Mr. Stanart made the MOTION TO TEMPERARILY CLOSE THE ALLEY BETWEEN WEST CHERRY AND WEST SAINT CHARLES ON SEPTEMBER 22, 2018 FROM 12:00 NOON TO 12:00 MIDNIGHT, second Mr. Maulding. Roll call: Stanart, Maulding, Mason, Lasswell, Beck. Aye – 5. Cox. Nay – 1. Motion passed.

Mr. Stanart made the MOTION TO TEMPERARILY CLOSE WEST CHERRY STREET BETWEEN MARSHALL AVENUE AND HEARD STREET ON SEPTEMBER 22, 2018 FROM 12:00 NOON TO 12:00 MIDNIGHT, second Mr. Maulding. Roll call: Stanart, Maulding, Mason, Lasswell, Beck. Aye – 5. Cox. Nay – 1. Motion passed.

Mr. Stanart made the MOTION TO ISSUE A CLASS F LIQUOR LICENSE TO ADAM LITTLE D/B/A DEEP SOUTH CATERING, second Mr. Mason. Roll call: Stanart, Mason, Lasswell, Beck, Maulding. Ayes – 5. Cox. Nay – 1. Motion passed

The Izaak Walton Cabin Committee presented a proposed news release to the Council to review and requested clarification on funding. Following discussion, which included dissenting opinion, the committee was directed to continue their endeavors and have proposals ready for presentation at the regular meeting on September 11, 2018.

At 4:49 P.M. Mr. Maulding made the MOTION TO ADJOURN, second Mr. Lasswell. A voice vote was taken. Motion passed without dissent.
